Case study #4: Recyclable Mobiles: Advances in Biodegradable Substrates for Wireless Devices

February 24, 2016, 11:15am

In this paper, we demonstrate microwave flexible thin-film transistors (TFTs) on biodegradable substrates towards potential green portable devices. The combination of cellulose nanofibrillated fiber (CNF) substrate, which is a biobased and biodegradable platform, with transferrable single crystalline Si nanomembrane (Si NM), enables the realization of truly biodegradable, flexible, and high performance devices.

Case study #3: Life cycle assessment of the Green Sustainable Telco Cloud

February 24, 2016, 11:14am

In this project, an innovative Telco-grade cloud technology has been developed to minimize cloud computing impacts on the environment (cf. http://www.synchromedia.ca/node/870 for more details). To evaluate the environmental benefits of the GSTC technology, several applications were investigated using the life cycle assessment (LCA) method.

Case study #2: The Green Sustainable Telco Cloud project (www.synchromedia.ca/node/870)

February 24, 2016, 11:10am

The Green Sustainable Telco Cloud (GSTC) project, supported by Ericsson, Canada’s NSERC and the Prompt consortium (www.promptinc.org) through the Equation initiative (www.equationict.com) is the first project at this scale in the world, which addresses the challenges inherent in building green and sustainable Telco services based on cloud computing technologies.

Case study #1: The GreenStar Network project

February 24, 2016, 11:06am

The GreenStar Network (GSN) project was, to the best of our knowledge, the first worldwide initiative started in 2010 aimed at providing cloud-based ICT services based entirely on renewable energy sources such as solar, wind and hydroelectricity.
